Course Information

Is this course right for me?

What skills will I need as a CAD trainee?

While the Certificate in CAD Draughting (Level 3) course has no specific academic entry requirements, you do need to be able to use a computer, be able to understand basic geometry, and have an interest in drawing and design. Before starting the course you will be asked to confirm these skills.

Distance students need to be able to access the internet from home for research, and learn how to receive and send electronic files for assessment activities.

To complete the work you will need to commit to an average of five hours of study per day. You need to be self-motivated to keep up to date with your study, and well organised to ensure that you submit your assessments on time.

Because you are working independently much of the time, it is important that you ask questions if you don’t understand and ask for help when you need it.

The drawings and designs you produce must communicate accurate information so you need to be systematic about naming and saving documents, and have an eye for detail.
